The story of Monster In Law is pretty simple, boy meets girl, boy takes girl home to meet her mother and then the disaster begins. Jennifer Lopez plays Charlie, an interesting person who seems content in all that life throws at her. One day, she meets Kevin played by Michael Vartan, who is a doctor, and they fall in love. Kevin wants to ask Charlie to marry him and decides to bring her home to meet his mother, Viola. Viola is played by Jane Fonda and plays the role of a successful network news anchon who had some problems of her own at work. Kevin's mother doesn't approve of his choice for a life partner and starts to plot to break them up. In comes Ruby (played by comedian Wanda Sykes). Ruby is Viola's quirky assistant who never lacks for a one liner. From all the horrid reviews I read I was sure this was going to be a horribly dreadful movie and much to my surprise, it wasn't bad at all. It's a cute comedy that definatly has its moments. I'm not a fan of Jane Fonda at all, and think her performance was terrible ... she just tried way to hard, like she had something to prove. But the rest of the cast did pull it together to make watching this movie and enjoyable experience.
