I don't think I've ever seen a cop movie that didn't remind me of Eddie Murphy in Beverly Hills Cop. All of these cop movies seem to follow the same concept of a cop who follows hit gut despite the evidence, gets in lots of trouble at work but in the end, saves the world, blah blah. Well I robot is no different. It's not exactly a modern day Beverly Hills cop, as it's not a comedy but it also wouldn't be to far a stretch to say that either.

Turns out I Robot is loosely based on a series of sci-fi books from like the 1940's by Isaac Asimov, that have an almost cult like following. The movie stars Will Smith as the bad boy cop who doesn't trust anything as logical as a robot that can't feel for itself and it seems to get him in quite a bit of trouble at work. Because of his distrust and questioning nature a scientist sets up a robot to notify him if anything is to ever happen to him, knowing Will Smith will investigate further.

So basically the inventor of these household robots gets killed and as everyone else is ready to write it off as a suicide, Will Smith presses the issue and investigates further. He is teamed up with the company robo-psychologist, who is of course a female and beautiful and together they try to get to the bottom of what really happened to the good robot doctor. The story follows the all to common story line but in the end it wasn't a bad movie. It was no independence day but not every movie can be. The visuals were decent, the plot not so unbelievable, the special effects and stunts a little to off the wall for my tastes but all in all the movie provided decent entertainment.
